About me
Hey! I'm Alexandre Pires, a Ph.D. student at the Socially Intelligent Artificial Systems (SIAS) Group, University of Amsterdam. My work focuses on understanding indirect reciprocity as a mechanism for cooperation under Human-AI hybrid populations. I'm supervised by Fernando P. Santos (SIAS) and Ana Paiva (GAIPS). The focus of my formal education is on Artificial Intelligence, Human Cooperation and Complex Systems, however, I always strive to bring perspectives from various fields, such music, art, history, economics, ecology and more.
Before this, I did my Computer Science and Engineering master's degree at Instituto Superior Técnico, University of Lisbon, Portugal. My master's thesis was about the adoption patterns of Open-Access science publishing using Evolutionary Game Theory, accompanied by professors Francisco C. Santos and Jorge M. Pacheco.
In addition to my work in computer science, I study jazz piano, video-game development, languages, and more.
This site is a hub for all my projects!
